Dainty is not a word that will ever be associated with the Yukon or its twin, the Chevrolet Tahoe. Fresh from a complete overhaul, GMC's super-sized SUV is hitting nearly all the right buttons. Back in 1992, the then new Yukon and revised Blazer (changed to Tahoe in 1995) landed with a resounding "BANG" when General Motors launched them on the market. GMC Sierra heavy-duty pickups are well-suited for real-world use and abuse. They can haul tons of brick and cement and tow the mixer, then turn around to be used for a night on the town or grocery shopping while the fifth-wheel's left in camp or the horses are in the corral. The Sierra HD models are the mid-level part of GMC's truck lineup, so if your hauling happens once or twice a year, or you tow a bass boat or ski boat or a lightweight car trailer, then the 1500-series is better suited. Conversely, if you've got a mammoth trailer to pull, step up to the Kodiak/Top Kick medium-duties.

Car and Driver reviews the 2007 GMC Acadia and writes – ‘For anyone used to the sloppy road manners of full-size truck-based SUVs, the Acadia is a revelation. The steering is precise and accurate, the handling is poised, body control in the twisties is excellent, and the ride is well controlled and supple. Head toss is minimal compared with, say, a GMC Yukon. The brakes have a firm pedal feel, and are able to woe the 5000-pound Acadia with aplomb.’

With the GMC Graphyte, General Motors announced another hybrid today at the 2005 Detroit Auto Show. The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) press days began January 9th. The most well attended show of the year with journalists coming from all over the world, the event will feature 65 introductions of new cars or concepts this week. The GMC Graphyte Concept is a concept that is not destined for production. It will be a showpiece for General Motors, displaying their ever present, evolving technology. Last month General Motors announced a partnership with Daimler Chrysler last month utilizing their two-mode hybrid system.
